Crystal Bracelet Combinations: What to Pair, What Never to Pair
There are really two different questions here, and conflating them causes most of the confusion.
Semi-precious crystals — amethyst, tiger eye, rose quartz and the rest — have no classical combination rules. Wear what you like together. Certified jyotish ratna do have rules, and they are specific, because they are tied to planetary friendships.
The jyotish rules — for certified navratna only
Classical practice holds that stones of inimical grahas are not worn together. The recurring prohibitions:
| Do not combine | Because |
|---|---|
| Manik with Neelam | Sun and Saturn are inimical |
| Moti with Gomed | Moon and Rahu |
| Heera (Diamond) with Manik or Moonga | Venus against Sun and Mars |
| Moonga with Panna | Mars and Mercury |
| Neelam with Manik, Moti or Moonga | Saturn against the Sun, Moon and Mars |
And the combinations traditionally considered harmonious:
| Pairs well | Why |
|---|---|
| Manik + Pukhraj + Moonga | Sun, Jupiter and Mars are mutual friends |
| Panna + Heera + Neelam | Mercury, Venus and Saturn |
| Moti + Manik | Moon and Sun |
Semi-precious pairings that work
| Pair | For |
|---|---|
| Hematite + sodalite | Settling, then focusing — the study pair |
| Pyrite + citrine | The wealth pair — see pyrite vs citrine |
| Rose quartz + amethyst | Calm and gentleness together |
| Black tourmaline + hematite | Protection and grounding — the root pair |
| Tiger eye + carnelian | Confidence and drive |
Three combinations to think twice about
- A calming stone and an energising stone on the same wrist, all day. Not forbidden, but the tradition is that intentions pulling opposite ways cancel. Split them — one wrist each.
- Hard stones with soft stones. Purely practical: quartz at hardness 7 will scratch fluorite at 4, selenite at 2 and turquoise at 5. Do not stack them.
- Six bracelets at once. Traditional practice consistently holds that one stone worn deliberately does more than a collection worn by default.
Which wrist
Left to receive, right to project — the full convention is in which hand to wear a crystal bracelet. A common arrangement is a calming stone left and an active stone right.

Generally yes — see rudraksha and gemstones.
How many is too many?
There is no rule. There is a strong tradition that fewer, worn deliberately, is the practice.
