Which Hand to Wear a Crystal Bracelet: Left vs Right
It is the most common question asked about crystal bracelets, and the answer is simpler than most sites make it: left to receive, right to project.
Everything else is detail on that one idea.
The rule
| Left wrist | Right wrist | |
|---|---|---|
| Traditionally | Receiving — taking something in | Projecting — putting something out |
| Wear here for | Calm, protection, healing, sleep, love | Confidence, drive, assertion, wealth intention |
| Typical stones | Amethyst, rose quartz, moonstone, black tourmaline | Tiger eye, citrine, pyrite, carnelian |
Stone by stone
| Stone | Usual wrist | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Amethyst | Left | Calm is received |
| Rose quartz | Left | Self-directed gentleness |
| Black tourmaline | Left | Shielding what comes in |
| Hematite | Left | Grounding and settling |
| Tiger eye | Right | Confidence is projected |
| Citrine | Right | Outward intention |
| Pyrite | Right | Assertion — see the pyrite guide |
| Carnelian | Right | Drive and starting |
Where it gets more complicated
- Jyotish ratna follow different rules entirely. A certified navratna is worn on a prescribed finger, in a prescribed metal, on a prescribed day — the wrist convention does not apply. See the rashi ratan guide.
- Left-handedness. Some practitioners reverse the rule for left-handed wearers, on the basis that the dominant hand is the projecting one. Others do not. There is no settled answer.
- Wearing both. Entirely normal — a calming stone left, an active stone right is a common pairing.
An honest note
This is convention rather than doctrine. The left-receiving idea comes from a broad energetic model shared across several traditions, not from a specific classical text with a rule in it. Practitioners disagree, and families differ.
If you were given an instruction with the piece, follow that. If not, use the table above — and do not lose sleep over having worn something on the wrong wrist for a year.
Other practicalities
- Wear it on the hand you use less if the stone is soft. Fluorite, turquoise, selenite and malachite all scratch easily.
- Take it off in the shower. Soap residue rots elastic faster than water alone.
- Expect to restring. Daily-worn elastic lasts roughly six to twelve months.
- A broken bracelet is traditionally read as having finished its work, not as a bad sign. Practically, it is friction.

Frequently asked questions
Which hand for money bracelets?
Right, traditionally — wealth intention is projected outward. Some traditions say left to receive money; this is one where practice genuinely splits.
Can I wear two bracelets on one wrist?
Yes. See crystal bracelet combinations for which pairings are conventional.
Does it matter for anklets?
The same left-right convention applies, though anklets are traditionally worn as a pair in India. See the anklet guide.
What if I am left-handed?
Practice is split. The commonest approach is to keep the standard left-receives rule regardless.
