Shukra Dosha: Venus Remedies & Stones

Two things before anything else. Shukra Dosha is read from a birth chart, not inferred from a difficult relationship. And the traditional remedies are observances, not purchases. A stone supports the graha; it does not resolve a yoga.

What Shukra governs

Shukra — Venus — signifies relationships, marriage, beauty, comfort, art, vehicles and the material pleasures generally. It rules Vrishabh and Tula, is exalted in Meen and debilitated in Kanya. Full detail in Venus (Shukra) gemstones.

How affliction is identified

What it does not mean

It is not a curse, and it does not predict a failed marriage.
It is not diagnosable from a relationship going badly. Difficulty is not evidence of a chart configuration.
A gemstone is not the primary remedy — and Heera, the Venus ratna, is the costliest of the nine, which makes this a heavily monetised diagnosis. Be careful.

The traditional remedies

Friday observances. Shukravar vrat, and the Shukra mantra.
Donating white items on a Friday — rice, white cloth, curd, sugar, silver.
Lakshmi worship, traditionally on Fridays.
Respect toward women in the household — stated directly in the classical commentaries as a Venus remedy, and the one most often skipped.
Cleanliness and order in the home. Venus governs comfort and surroundings; the remedy is domestic before it is ritual.

Chanted 108 times on a Friday, facing south-east:

ॐ द्रां द्रीं द्रौं सः शुक्राय नमः

Should I buy a diamond for it?

Only if specifically advised, and white sapphire is the accepted substitute. A costly stone bought on a vague diagnosis is the single most common way people lose money in this category.
